Nina Bailey Earns AMTE Dissertation award

Congratulations to Alumni, Dr. Nina Bailey! During her time as a doctoral candidate, she authored the dissertation, “Describing Critical Statistical Habits of Mind”. This dissertation went on to earn her the 2024 Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators’ Dissertation Award. Nina’s dissertation describes how preservice secondary mathematics teachers make sense of statistical representations from a critical perspective as well as provides a framework for operationalizing critical statistical literacy that can be used in future research. Dr. Bailey is currently an Assistant Professor of Mathematics Education at Montclair State University. While in this role she is able to apply and continue her research in a very productive way!
