List of University Committees
Faculty Hearing Committee
The committee shall hear cases of nonreappointment, discharge, the imposition of serious sanctions, or termination in accordance with the procedures described in the UNC Charlotte Tenure Policies, Regulations, & Procedures, June 1992.
TERM OF OFFICE: 4 YEARS
Faculty Grievance Committee
The committee shall be authorized to hear, mediate, and advise with respect to the adjustment of grievances of the members of the faculty. “Grievances” within the province of the committee’s power shall include matters directly related to a faculty member’s employment status and relationships. However, no grievance that grows out of or involves matters related to a formal proceeding for nonreappointment, suspension, discharge or the imposition of serious sanctions, or termination of a faculty member or is within the jurisdiction of another standing committee of the faculty may be considered by the committee.

Faculty Executive Committee
This committee shall be responsible of reestablishing the agenda for the Faculty Council and for insuring that Faculty Business is handled with dispatch.
TERM OF OFFICE: 2 YEARS
Faculty Course and Curriculum Committee
The function of this committee shall be to review and make recommendations on curriculum and course proposals forwarded by the academic units.
TERM OF OFFICE: 2 YEARS
Faculty Academic Policy and Standards Committee
The function of this committee shall be to review and make recommendations on all proposals concerning admissions, academic standing, degree requirements, grading systems, honors programs, and all other matters of academic policy and standards.

Faculty Employment Status Committee
The function of this committee shall be to recommend University policy on matters of reappointment, promotion, tenure, and conditions of service; and to approve instruments and procedures to evaluate administrators.

Faculty Advisory Summer Sessions Committee
The function of this committee is to consult with, and make recommendations to, the University administration on summer sessions policies.

Faculty Competitive Grants Committee
The function of this committee is to establish policies and procedures for the review of proposals for funding from off-campus sources where the granting agency limits the number of proposals to be considered from a single campus.

Graduate Council
The function of this committee is to review and make recommendations on proposals concerning graduate education originating in the Graduate Faculty or its component units.

Council on General Education
The purpose of this committee is to provide continual review of the general education program and to approve and develop courses to meet the Goals of UNC Charlotte Education.

Faculty Advisory Library Committee
The function of this committee is to advise and consult with the Library staff, students, faculty, and the University administration about matters pertaining to the operation of the University Library. (NOTE: LIS now controls Computing Services and most of the Computing facilities on this campus!!!!!)

Honorary Degree Advisory Committee
“The Board of Trustees has the legal and moral right to grant honorary degrees in the name of the University. The Faculty assumes no responsibility for the awarding of honorary degrees. The Faculty is willing, however, to advise the Board of Trustees on this matter through the activity of the Honorary Degree Advisory Committee. The Committee is charged to work with the Trustees and the Chancellor to suggest individuals for honorary degrees.”

Faculty Assembly Delegate
Serve as one of three UNC Charlotte delegates to the Faculty Assembly of The University of North Carolina.

Faculty Research Grants Committee
The function of this committee shall be to set guidelines, subject to the approval of the Faculty Council to be followed in the recommendation of the funding of proposals for grants, and to review and make recommendation on research proposals submitted to it.

Faculty CID Grants Committee
The function of this committee shall be to set guidelines, subject to the approval of the Faculty Council to be followed in the recommendation of the funding of proposals for grants, and to review and make recommendation on curriculum and instructional development proposals submitted to it.

Nationsbank Teaching Award Committee
The function of this committee is to accept nominations for and choose the semi-finalists and finalists for the NationsBank Teaching Award. Former winners of the teaching award are not eligible.
